On March 14, 2007, I had called the Sturgis Police Department because my oldest daughter was not home from school. I made every attempt to locate her and could not. Within a minute after calling the Police Department, Sturgis Police were out looking for my child. There were police everywhere. Checking different locations and areas that she might be. Within minutes they narrowed it down to the school. After getting conflicting stories from the school, the officers decided to go down to the school themselves to locate her. My daugther was located coming out of the school building. I have to say, it was the best feeling I had ever had. These police officers handled themselves in a professional manner and reacted quickly. If my daughter had actually been in danger, these officers would have been the ones to find her. I have confidence in my Meade County Police Officers and want to thank each and every one of them personally. Thank you so much for reacting quickly and for supporting me as a mother who was frightened. Know that each of you are in my prayers. Again, Thank you. Tonia Rueda

I am a police officer in Jerseyville IL, and have attended Sturgis Rally in the past, and love the Black Hills area of S.D. After reading the article in Police magazine, me and some of my cop buddies were interested on how to get chose to work during the rally as offical cops.
