Some of the many things I remember: Multiplication tables being drilled into us in 3rd grade by Sister Dionysius. Pizza strips for lunch on Wednesdays for 10 cents a strip. Softball in the schoolyard at recess. Shooting baseball cards and losing most of them against the school foundation. The train that passed by the school every afternoon that was on its way to "China" and that's where you were going if you didn't behave. Buying penny candy after lunch in Sister Margaretta's classroom. My favorite teachers:Without a doubt, Sister Margaretta (number 1) and Sister Aliceann. Thanks John P. for putting this together. I enjoyed it and will check back often to read comments from other SAS alumni.

When I think of St. Anthony's School only one person and one thought comes into my mind, Adolf Hitler's sister , Sister Benigna!! She gave more beatings to our classmates then the Third Reich!
After I graduated there should have been a trial for school crimes, by the principal. What an impression she left!

I have an old photo of a First Communion picture. My "best friend" Nadine and I were too young to make First Communion with our first grade class, so we were "Angels". I cherish this picture of so many of us.

There was a very large tree stump on the right side of the schoolyard , (with our back to the school house .) I first hit top running speed around that thing , and the joy brought forth a vow from me that "i'd rather be dead than fat !" I also remember the first day of first grade , - in the very first moments how i scanned the girls looking for a wife ! Ironic , paradoxical , sad , and joyous (?) - i still haven't married . Glad , lucky , thankful - to have been there , and for this web site effort . joe p

Loved your site! Also, some great photos there! Did not go to Saint Anthony's but did go to school in North Providence. I moved to Texas a few years ago but still have vivid memories of my childhood while growing up in R.I.
The good ol' days - where have they gone?

Please sign my guestbook. Tell me when you graduated from St Anthony's and a story about when you were a student there.
If you have any pictures, I would like to use them. You can email them to me, or postal mail. I will mail them back to you. Enjoy our memories of St.Anthony's School. Thank God there are no more wooden rulers, ha?
