I got to ride in Heath Mitchell's class 8 truck. WOW!! Warren Messick was driving the beginning of the race and gave me the ride of a lifetime. He got us into the overall lead on the second loop (without prerunning). Soon afterward we found out the new engine did not get the gas mileage we had planned on, but the horsepower was unreal! Jeff Grenier ran the first 2 laps in my car and during our driver change told me the car was having carberator problems. My 15 year old daughter Steffany and I got in and took off for her first race and half a mile later almost became one of the rollover victims (don't tell my wife!) On the 4th loop we had a flat tire too far from help and had to change it ourselves. On the 5th loop I was a little impatient trying to get around a slower truck up on the ridge behind Slash X and got the car high centered on a boulder. After several attempts and about 20 minutes of down time Steffany and I got the car free and made it to the finish line! Steffany and I have just built a lifetime memory and I am very proud of her. She did a great job! Thanks to Jim and Ron for a great race. Also need to thank the Poor Boyz team, M&T race cars,Tracey,Jeff,Homer,Heath and Warren!
