Todd' this is a great subject to discuss now. I completly disagree with the new roll cage rule. I build my cars to be safe and one thing I am not going to use on a main cage is chromoly. Mild steel flexes, bends and saves your ass. I use chromoly on my car for certain areas that need additional strength, but in the collision (crumple zone) areas I prefer to use DOM. SCORE has gotten ridiculus with it's attempt to manipulate all racers in conforming to big budgets rules. I had plans to race the 1000 or 500 but that is not going to happen with the way SCORE is running things. I would like to organize a meeting for all 5/1600 racers in all series to addrese our current rules and safety issues. Todd' by the way nice coverage in D2G.

For those who don't know, Score has posted there new Roll Cage rules. I don't think the rules will really affect any 5/1600 as we are all under 2000 lbs or unless your car is not chromolly or Dom steel (aka SEAMLESS MILDSTEEL). And they will be testing the steel to make sure. But what do you all think about the yearly inspections and if you don't inspect by June 06 your car in ban from ever racing Score under the old rules, or if you skip your annual inspection your car is removed from the Score database and your car will not be able to race Score under the old rules. Also I spoke to Sal and he said that the inspection fee's were going to be up to Bill Savage (Score Tech Director) as he will have to figure out an hourly rate. From what I have heard expect $200 to $400 per inspection. You can read more about this in racedezert.com's forum. Personally I think Score is shooting themselves in the foot. So what's your opinion? I bet cars that are not inspected and ok'd by Score will be alot harder to sell in the future. Not just 5/1600 but all classes. Just imagine you find a 1600 car for sale and you someday want to race the Baja 1000, but it had never been inspected. Your probably going to pass on buying that great car.

Hi everyone! I just want to say thank you to all of the Baja Coalition teams who drove the long haul and came up to Caliente - you guys are a first class group and have some very fast cars! Thank you Ron for the T-shirt and Coalition decals - already put them on my truck - I still owe ya a Michilada lol :) And thank you to the Deen team for letting me harass them in Tech/Contingency... Also, congratulations to: 1st Place Eric Deen #552; 2nd Place Jasper Dyer #584; 3rd Place Dane Crawford #584 and of course to all of the finishers as well! I have posted contingency and please let me know if you haven't received anything in a couple of weeks... Once again, a huge thank you to everyone for coming up and supporting SNORE and the sport of off-road racing!! See you at the next race!
