I was saddened to hear of Calvin's passing. We met through his dear friends, Victor and Roxann Fisher, and my family and I looked forward to visiting with him every year at his annual showcase. We will always cherish the African slit drum he made for the boys for Christmas. To the family, may the Lord comfort your hearts as only He can. You are in our prayers.

Try as I may, I can't find the words that I want you to know... the ones I feel in my heart for you Dot and your family at this time. But for the grace of God....His grace leads me to thank you for sharing Calvin with us....I will remember him always....honor his courage with my own bravery and allow his spirit to encourage me to speak joy...no matter... forever.

I will miss Calvin. He was so genuine, a pure spirit
and a gifted artist. I am so glad that I have two or
three small momentos of his craft. I wanted to
commission him to make me an alter to pray in
front of and I never got that opportunity. I am so
sorry I wasn't able to say so long. I will remember
him always. Peace and blessings to Dorothy and
sons. The community has lost a great artist, a
gentle soul but will always have the legacy of his
contributions. Best, Portia Cobb-Heyward

My prayers for your family have been sent up with the utmost love and sincerity asking for strength and unity in your family as you go through this time of transition and loss in your family.
I met calvin through Victor Fisher about 9 years ago and he was a great guy.
Take pride in knowing that his mark was truely left on this earth through his art and that he has and will continue to bring many many people pleasure and happiness through that media. Again my prayers are with you all and God bless and keep you all.

Calvin was an extraordinary man and an extraordinary artist. Although I had come to know him in a short amount of time, I found that many in our community loved him and his work. His art will forever be with us, and may his family continue on with his legacy. God Bless the family.
