sorry max. i read your review wrong, thinking you gave "knocked up" 2 1/2 stars. mea culpa. all right. i'm psyched up and ready to go. i tied myself to my chair before i wrote this so i wouldn't do something stupid. here goes. what are we going to do with the afi? my gosh! here i was, thinking they were going to redeem themselves. now their 100 best movies list is even more polluted! i wish you all could have seen me. i was throwing popcorn at the tv every time some stupid movie came up. where to begin? first, let me congratulate them by not puting on 'dances with wolves'. people are finally waking up! (notice that 'goodfellas' made the list; good work, academy awards!) now, when they got to no. 50 and they were like, "now, the newest movie on the list." naturally, i thought since movies up to 2006 were eligible, it was going to be 'million dollar baby' or 'brokeback mountain'. but NO. it was "lord of the rings", which i thought would surely make the top ten! afi--get real! there were 4 charlie chaplin films on the list! don't you want the BEST movies! this doesn't mean the most groundbreaking or the funniest; it means THE BEST. just because 'snow white' was the first full-length animation film doesn't mean it's the best! just because charlie chaplin is funny and was a pioneer of silent film doesn't mean he's one of the best! gosh! i will say the top ten was better than last time, though 'lawrence of arabia' fell back. and as for 'citizen kane': i'm afraid i'll never be able to convince people that it stinks. see you guys later, and thanks for letting me vent to you.

Hey Jordan- What makes you think I didn't like Knocked Up? I loved it. Gave it 3 and a half stars. In the end, I don't think it was as brilliant as the 40 year Old Virgin. That film was not only hilariously funny but had smart and fresh things to say about growing up and taking risks. But Knocked Up was a blast. Robin Williams knuckles! Heh! Also, to those who objected to the "schlubby" guy getting the shiksa goddess, that's the whole point. She slummed for a night, had mistake sex, if you will, and then, horror of horrors, got pregnant! My problem with TV shows and films that pair fat guys with goddesses is that they never address that disparity. Here, they made a whole dag movie about it! Anyway, I've known since Freaks and Geeks that Judd Apatow rules.

so max, back to 'knocked up'. you liked 'the 40 yr. old virgin.' what's up with this? the movie is so honest and brutal. on rotten tomatoes it has a 91% positive review. can you explain to me why you didn't care for it? p.s. i LOVE 'the queen'. thanks for recommending it. although everyone i've talked to hated it because "we're not british and why shoud we care?" shut up people. helen mirren is a phenom and you just need to learn to appreciate good film.

hey max and mike (and meg). remember me. it's been a while. wow, max. you didn't like 'knocked up'? best movie of the year so far. can't wait for 'ratatouielle'. it has real potential. on to my real point. the afi is once again trying to redeem themself with their new list of the 100 best movies to be unveiled june 20 on cbs. all i have to say is that if 'citizen kane' is no. 1 again, someone will die. remember last time when 'dances with wolves' was ranked ahead of 'goodfellas', 'bringing up baby' and 'the sound of music'? what a crime! the afi refuses to recognize new movies, though i suppose the drab "million dollar baby" will somehow make the cut while films like 'his girl friday' will be on standby. what should be no. 1? well the best film ever made is 'lawrence of arabia', though it's not my favorite movie. that would be 'singin' in the rain'. well, let me know what you think should be no. 1. see ya guys later.

I remember when you guys did a show on coming of age movies but don't remember if Mischief was mentioned on it. Either way, I just saw it for the first time and really enjoyed it. My friend said I should check out Heaven Help Us next and said it might even be better...
