Liked the AF better but the Army made for a more lucrative retirement.

Whoops, meant to add a bit more regarding the 135 crash. The following day while clearing base an AP vehicle pulled up along side of me and asked if I was ...... I,replied yes. they out me ibto the vehicle,at this point I,had no damned idea what was going on.. They tooh me to the main HQ, escorted me into a room filled with so much brass it was unbelievable. I, was asked where I, was at when this occured on a large map. Then I, was asked what I saw. I. did mention about the wind being so bad. Curious has anyone checked into the wind conditions that day??????
A.few day's ???later at commanders call( according to buddy) my name was called and response was discharged.
I, remained in Roswell for about a year then moved to Carlsbad. I, worked at one of the local potash mines for 23 years, then the United States National Park Service and retired in 2000,moved to St. Louis.

Stationed at walker. B-52 ground crew. 3 day's prior to discharge Feb.6-60, I, met myn old crew at the coffee shop,a'c just came off of alert status and was on regular status. talked me into going out to the a/c for one last time.
Wind was blowing like hell from the west.
Facing the runway the control tower was to our right(south). We were a few hundred yards away from the runway.
135 was barreling down when to me it appeared to veer/lift/tilt to the right, then suddenly back to the right, that is when I, noticed debris, namely engines. Everything was a blurr as it proceeded .
The sound of the explosions, flames and smoke.
I, grabbed my camera out of the glove compartment and snapped two photo's quickly.
We, ended up driving to the 135 area and started helping moving a/c out of there.
I, do not recall who was on the crew at that time. One may have been Harold Young, laST i KNEW OF HIM 20 PLUS YEARS AGO HE WAS IN dALLAS WORKING FOR AA.
I, also ran around with Geo. Jasper and Stenna Wilson.
Mostly ran asround with civilians the Carrara brothers who lived on E. Country club road.
I, do have the two photo's in my possesion one is 8x10 the 5x7.
