I myself lost a family member in Vietnam and have always had him in my prayers, despite me never had meet him. I often wonder if all this is worth the sacrifice that our loved ones have suffer. We come from the Mexica Nahuatl speaking people. All of my relatives, to the day they passed on, spoke our traditional language and we now carry that responsibility. My relative's name was Popotl. It means "Smoke", and just as that, he was gone from our Family. My prayers are with you!

I would like to thank the late PFC Lori Ann Piestewa for giving her all in the finest traditions of the US Army. I know it is hard on her family. While it is still up in the air as to whether democracy and civilization will take hold in Iraq and the Middle East. Nevertheless, it was a worthy cause to die for. The tyrant Sadam Hussein and his gang now face justice for their crimes. Thanks to PFC Lori Ann Piestewa and the other servicemen and women the people of Iraq have a chance of living in peace without fear of torture and death at the hands of a secret police. It is sad that so many of our people must pay such a price for freedom and justice. However, the dead of Bunker Hill, Gettysburg, the Argonne, Pearl Harbor, Inchon and a hundred other unknown and forgotten battlefields and graveyards around the world remind us liberty has a high price. I thank God Americans like PFC Lori Ann Piestewa were willing to pay it for us. God bless her and her family for the ultimate sacrifice so that others may live in freedom. Sincerely, Phil Logan Veteran of the first Gulf War It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived. George S. Patton

I am not of the Native American Indian race but I am an American, a caucasion woman from the northeast. But Lori was my sister in God. I want to thank her family for her bravery, her service to help make others free and for her final sacrifice. May you find peace, love and laughter in your wonderful memories of her. ONE (by an unknown author) As the soot and ash rained down, We became one color. As we carried each other down the stairs of the burning building, We became one class. As we lit candels of waiting and hope, We became one generation. As the firefighters and police officers fought their way into the inferno, We became one gender. As we fell on our knees in prayer for strenghth,We became one faith. As we whispered or shouted words of encouragement, We became one language. As we gave blood in lines a mile long, We became one body. As we mourned together the great loss, We became one family. As we cried tears of grief and loss, We became one soul. As we retell with pride of the sacrifice of heroes, We become one people. We are one color one class one generation one gender one faith one language one body one family one soul one people. We are THE POWER OF ONE. We are UNITED. WE ARE AMERICA. GOD BLESS AMERICA. GOD BLESS Lori and her family.
