Gary is part Cherokee, and it really hit home when we lost Lori. But, having served in Viet Nam, we lost a lot of Native Americans, some of which were women. Women who were not allowed to serve in combat, as we know it. Now combat encompasses a broad spectrum of the combat area. Women are now able, and proudly serving, in areas of the combat arena that were not permissible before. We morn Lori's loss as we do those of her fellow soldiers, male or female. She gave her all for her country and we, who have gone before her appreciate her sacrifice more than anyone who has not been there can understand. God Bless her family in their loss. I just viewed the story about Lori, the Hopi Indian. My heart broke for her and her family. Such a beautiful tribute to her. We Indians have given up so much but she was still willing to fight for the USA.

I just wanted Lori's family to know that people are praying for her family and especially for the 2 children she leaves behind. There's a special place in heaven for her parents who are raising those children.
