A respectful "Thank You" to the family of PFC Lori Piestewa,
I have never met Lori in person, but I belive I know many things about her. Here are but three attributes:
She is a patriot: a person who loves his/her country enough to support its interests. She is brave: having and/or showing no/little fear when faced with something dangerous, difficult, or unknown. She also possesses a tremendous sence of duty (charge, commitment) to her country/branch of service and fellow servicemen.
There are some "UNDESERVING" in this great country who will never understand her sacrifice or appreciate her labor of love to serve in the Armed Forces. Her personal attributes which made her a team member in her unit, all of which embodies the term HONOR. But I do!
Thank you PFC Piestewa, and your family! Your selfless service is a testament for all to behold. A rare quality in Mankind. You richly shaired all you had for your countrymen and servicemen. America is a more secure country today for YOUR service.
Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful),
SgtMaj. USMCR

Long ago, so many Native Americans were hurt, killed and treated unjustly by the ancestors of my people, yet, they have fought and still fight galantly side by side with us in our wars. What more can be said of the Great People of all the Indian Nations. Their pride, bravery, skill and honor are second to no other race this Earth has ever seen. I feel honored to live in the same country with Native Americans as well as to have had the honor of meeting many. To Lori, may the spirits of your ancestors take you in their arms and to Lori's family, may they watch over you forever!

My thoughts and prayers are with the family Lori left behind that they may be comforted by Tunkasila in this time of sorrow and grief and that she has found piece with those of her clan and nation who have gone before her. I pray for peace so that others will not have to know the sorrow of death that war brings. A Woman Warrior, Lori will be forever to all tribal nations.
