I agree female jockeys have been less
recognised in the media and unapprectiated.
This site is changing that and offering so
much more. As a returning, aspiring rider I
can relate to much of the very same struggles
I'm reading about here, though I am a guy. I
admire your excellent effort to network and
showcase the talent, knowledge, experience,
enthusiasm and goodwill it takes to be
successful and fullfilled in this sport. I
wholeheartedly support and seek support in
your (our) effort to be this very special kind of
person who regardless of gender, is
underappreciated as an athlete in general. I
feel a kinship almost entirely, which I guess
speaks to the assertion that gender shouldn't
divide us in this, and humbly apply to dwell
here. This site is the best and in a class by
itself. Thanks!

what a plesure reading about Rose Mary Homeister. I remember Mary Bacon riding in NY. It was tough at that time but appreciated the effort. Rosemary is a real pro and gives everything. You don't make a fortune riding in Florida but its great to be able to do what you want. Her Husband also put in 100%. Continued sucess. By the way how is Linda Hughes doing? walter mitchell ny

What a great site! My daughter would very much like to become a jockey and I can't wait to share your site with her! She often hears words of discouragement or a look of "sure you can be a jockey"...Chantal Sutherland said it best...and many thanks for her wonderful interview...she Said, "just follow your dreams"...that's what I keep telling my daughter; she is about to turn twelve and has a great passion for all that is Equine! Thank you :)

I just discovered this web site...and I love it! I know female jockeys have an up-hill battle with many, if not most trainers and owners. Many male jockeys are chauvinist and vindictive on the track. However, truth be told...most female jockeys are superior riders to their male counterparts since they tend to have softer hands and better balance; working with their mount to achieve the most at the moment as opposed to forcing their will on their horse.
