I should note that many graduates/members of WAUR did very well in the Australian Regular Army.

"HIYA, DIGGER!!" My dad always said that. He was sent
to Australia after 6 months on Gudalcanal. If it had not
been for a USN nurse (my mom) he would have
returned to live there. Your loss. Cheers, Jose50

A fascinating website! Gurkha hats [hats, felt, Gurkha] are in fact two hats sewn together, which enables the almost rigid dead-flat brim! Pagris, flashes and badges are applied by unit tailors in accordance with individual regimental dress regulations. The brim is kept straight by a home-made wooden press.

Nice site and a good overview. I should note that many graduates/members of WAUR did very well in the Australian Regular Army. A number served as Commanding Officers and sub- unit commanders. This is no doubt a reflection of the quality of the recruits the unit attracted, particularly in the days when the unit boasted nearly 500 members and a broad range of functions. Oh yes - members also clearly did well in the CMF/GRes etc!
