2/Lt Lee Scott actually advanced to take the first pill box as there were to bringing destructive fire to bare on troops.He single handed approached front on, with total diregard of his own safety and later in co operation with another officer took the second pill box with his 56 infantry He won a military cross for his actions but refused to be scited for vc.He was my great uncle

I was a member of the US Tactical Air Control Party assigned to 5 RAR from June 1966 through Dec 1966. We, (the ground controllers) acted as liason between the units on the ground and our Forward Air Controllers that supported the ground units. Living in the basecamp was only broken up with a couple of trips to Vung Tau, smile, and of course, the field operations. I cannot tell you how much admiration I have for the Austrialian Forces and am proud beyond description to have served my time in County with you. It seems like only yesterday.
