It is a great thing what this site does. Awareness is the key, we need to spread the word. My brother took his own life 8 years ago, my son took his life 12 months ago. I dont want their deaths to be for nothing. I want to try to make a difference.

I read the article in Saturdays Chronicle about WW Day. The State MHS's staff must properly address this problem, not ignor it like usual.I know, I've been there, done that. But I'm still here. I suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder.

I am 22 years old and my husband of 3 1/2 years committed suicide last year. We were having troubles and after a night out with friends, I returned home to find that he had hung himself in our bedroom doorway. It is a memory I will never be free of, but it has become less suffocating. I have done a hell of a lot of work in my own mind to get through this without going crazy, and I think that I am doing pretty well. Obviously cannot ever descibe how awful it has been, but I have a different outlook on life now, and I have found that a healthy body and mental state go hand in hand. I decided not to punish myself anymore for something that was not my doing. I would love to eventually help others who have experienced the same situation, but I think it may be too early for me yet. I have the deepest sympathy for surrounding family and friends of the deceased, but these people wanted to be released from this life. Do not keep them here by replaying the events that you "could have changed". It has all been done, and there is NO answers in the past, only what unfolds in the future will help you accept (anyone who has spent a lot of time in the past, like myself, will tell you this). I need to always remind myself to love the person and their memory, but do it gracefully, out of respect for them.
