Thanks guys ... the information you allowed me to use from your site will have an impact on my community. (I've already received a "complaint call" from Virginia's Crime/Victim Care Reimbursement Program (don't have their exact title yet ... (governments!)) concerned as to what they read about their services in Virginia?). Thanks for including my Recital announcement. I had an unpleasant, but necessary revelation, though, as I studied your site. I discovered that I knew several of the men killed, while I was living in DC ... I had lost contact with the DC community when I moved back home to Lynchburg. I knew them only from a distance, but your site brought home the importance of keeping their memories alive, and the importance of telling those you know, and maybe those you don't know well, you love them (in some way) ... hopefully my Recital is about keeping our struggles as GLBT people in front of the public ... honoring those who died without having their full Rights ... hopefully I will be able to open up and sing through my horn, so those who ordinarily cannot hear what we say, may start to listen ... besides, there's a lot I need to get out of my system ... Best wishes, Bill C.

Hello, I hope this letter finds you well and in good spirits. I am a married woman with two children. I have a son and a daughter. My husband and I teach our children that everybody is equal and has rights. My children have learned about life from an early age. One incident being while we lived in Guam, we were shopping and happened to see a young couple (two men) who were holding hands and they gave each other a nice romantic kiss. I said to my children.."Look, they must really be in love, isn't that wonderful?" And they remarked that it was very nice. I have always tried to present life to my children in a way that they will be accepting and understanding of all people. I teach them that it doesn't matter what race a person is, what sexual preferrence they have, what religion they practice. All people have their own beliefs, their own path, no one has a right to choose for some one else. I would like to see the day come when gay and lesbian unions will be referred to as marriage. What is being done at this point to make that happen? I would love to be involved in something as worthwhile as this. I am so tired of people being oppressed by race, sexuality, size, etc... I want to do my part. It is terrible that anyone at all had to die on 9-11, but for "married" people I think there was more understanding, so those who were left that were in a "partnership" in a lot of cases I believe had little or no support from family, friends, or insurance companies. With a lot of the partners left behind, like with any couple, that was half of the house income. So not only can they not grieve properly, but they have the added stress of their home(if a will had not been made), people "blowing" them off as if they have no reason to grieve ( due to not being able to legally marry). This situation must change. In this day and age, I don't understand how people can still be this ignorant and judgemental. Personally, I feel that we should do away with labeling and whoever we love, we love. People should respect (not tolerate, but respect) each other as individuals. Although I have a husband, I know that if anything ever happened to him, if I ever had another relationship...it may be a man, or it may be a woman. The laws truly need to change. I'm sorry for writing on and on. I had only meant to drop a line. But this is something that I feel so strongly about. Take care and Blessed Be

My name is Matt Nagle and I am the managing editor of the Seattle Gay News. I received your email with the link to your 9/11 GLBT memorial Web page and I had to email you to say it is the most touching work of art. The amount of care and love put into constructing this Web page comes through quite clearly. Bless you for your kind heart - to do this for our community is a magnificent gift. In our Sept.6 issue we'll be including a lot of 9/11 articles, photos and stories and I'm going to include a big notice to our readers to visit the site. Thank you again very kindly. PEACE, Matt Nagle

I'm a 56 year old gay man in the UK. I've never managed to come out. I thank God that the services of gay men and women are at last being recognised. I grieve with the rest of the World for everyone who died on September 11th. Looking through the site, and reading about people I have never met has left me in tears and feeling kind of ashamed of myself. On the night of September 11th I spent four hours on the telephone to New York trying to comfort a gay male Internet friend of mine. We were watching the same harrowing news reports. In those four hours I came to love the people of America so much. In the small city of Worcester where I live, people cried openly in the streets at the horror of it all, as I'm sure they did throughout the rest of the world. It warms my heart that the Gay people and their partners are being recognised as just plain folk who lived and loved together. The horror of 11th September appears to have speeded up certain rights for gay people. I was sent the URL of the site by another gay Internet friend of mine in Delaware. I too am sending it to everyone I know. God Bless You and God Bless us all.
