Hi there Paul & Mike,
Thank you for setting up the site memorializing the gay victims of 9-11.... it is really moving reading the profiles and stories of the people on your site.
I just wanted to let you know of a memorial that is due to take place between 20 and 22 September... it is a bike ride which travels from Ground Zero to the Pentagon to honor the memory of the victims of 9-11.
The organizers are World T.E.A.M. Sports
http://worldteamsports.org
http://worldteamsports.org/cgi-bin/EventHandler/EventHandler.pl?action=entryform&filename=event1&id=wts
(the first is the link to their general site and the second is the link to the actual page dealing with the ride)
They requested that each of the cyclists relate their reasons for riding. My aim is to ride in memory of the gay people who died in the attacks and to make people aware of the subsequent difficulties that the surviving partners have to endure because of ongoing discrimination against gay people. I am a gay man in a long term relationship, and can only imagine how difficult it must be for them.
So, thanks again for your part in honoring these fallen gay men and women and their partners, and for putting faces and stories to the names.
Regards
Charl
PS if you have space for an animated banner on your website with a link to the ride's site, you can use the one that I created (attached for that purpose) and the destination link would be the second of the links listed above.

Michael and Paul -
Very well done.
PrideFest America, the nation's largest annual GLBT forum (www.pridefestamerica.com) gave its annual Distinguished Service Award to NYPD Officer Carol Paukner and Detective Francis Coppolla at its opening ceremony on April 29, 20002. The ceremony was covered by all seven Philadelphia regional television stations that have news teams.
At PrideFest America's SundayOUT, attended by 50,000 persons the first Silence of Rememberance was held with all activities ceasing and the names of a GLBT victims representing the four flights and emergency service personnel read by Malcolm Lazin, Executive Director, PrideFest America (Carol Flyzik - AA #11, Dan Brandhorst, Ronald Gamboa and son David - UA #175, David Charlebois - AA #77, Mark Bingham - UA #93 and Father Mychal Judge). There was a choral tribute by the Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus. The Silence of Rmemberance was distingushed by the total silence of the large gathering.
PrideFest America called on others to include a Silence of Rememberance in major public events of the GLBT community.

I am very interested in staying current and am particularly interested in learning more about the survivors of the 911 tragedies as their stories relate to the cause of tax equity. I'm sure you're resource will
be useful.
Thank you again! Please help me get signatures at
www.petitiononline.com/LGTaxes/petition.html
petitioning congress for a tax reduction for GLBT people who are denied benefits but forced to pay full taxes.

Hello from fiance of WTC victim...
Hi, my name is Lucy Aita. My fiancé Paul Innella was killed on 9/11.
He
worked for Cantor Fitzgerald for 15 years. I am involved with a group
of over 50 fiancés and domestic partners called fiancesof911.com.
Please look us up. We have the exact same problems as the gay and
lesbian couples and can relate totally. I have spoken out for fiancés
in many newspapers articles (one was on tv) for the rights of fiances
and gay and lesbian couples. Maybe we could form an alliance between
the groups as our fight for recognition with Mr. Feinberg is the same.
We have met with him as a group on 3 occasions and it is quite
frustrating. We are trying to have a bill passed for us all through
the
legislation also so far to no avail. Please
write to me here. Maybe we could talk and see where everyone is at in
this quest for justice.
Sincerely,
Lucy Aita
