In your book lists there are a few by child authors. So for the sake of fairness may I tell your readers all about the horror, not publicly known enough, of being a wronged child author? I'm one of those missing child authors, my chance to complete a sci-fi novel was ruined by abusive school homework. Having 2 items of recognition as a child author in Welsh newspapers of the time, South Wales Echo 20 August 19 80 by the young Rod Liddle and Western Mail 19 January 1982, means I am historical proof the stolen generation exists and vindicate the genuineness of other oppressed who have no public record of their own left that they ever were a child author.
The life ruining slave abuses done by homework are deliberately never recognised by the media, who want to keep kids oppressed, and this includes no recognition of destroyed child authors, while of course the ones who succeed get the media raving over how extraordinary they are. This link

to the Scottish parliament's fantastic system of public Cross Party Groups, which is a new standard for democracy everywhere, shows I have got the issue on parliamentary record for posterity. It is my theory that since Lindsay Brown in 1978, who made it just before modern styles of high intensity homework enforcement began, no child author has made it without some special factor in their life to protect them from homework ruining their chance.
But I have not yet managed to fit the fantasy novelist Catherine Webb, who has written 4 books in 2 years (ouch!!), into this theory. I can only say that if she got published by the accident that her parents "knew a nice lady" who in turn knew a publisher, then we are not being told everything about her life that could be exceptional and a cause of protection from school, and for any 14-16 year olf to have time to write 4 books in under 2 years they must have something different in their life that holds the demands of schoolwork at bay. In most cases since 2001 kids have had some form of educational special need recognised, which would explain something like this, and their writing has been about it. I have Asperger's, which wasn't a known condition in my childhood, and 2 Asperger's kids seem to be the best known of the new child authors: Kenneth Hall, who is home educated, and Luke Jackson, who was created by the gluten free diet movement. He seems to be the most wildly adulated child author in modern history, yet curiously, most people no longer notice that he has never been allowed to be a genuine self sufficient child author at all. His books were both written jointly with his mother, her heavy role of formatting and editing on his behalf making them really 12/13 by her, so she admitted in the Times 16 August 2002.
Marquise Cornier and Ben Buchanan with ADHD and dyslexia are similar cases. Tito Mukhopadhyay is an Indian autistic boy who had an anthology of poems published. Yuan Liang is blind. Sho Yano, a medicine prodigy in Japan, is already in university level education. Tamina Pitt and Hylton Laurel live in the Australian outback so don't go to school in the normal way. Charlotte Church, writing her autobio, was already famous so had a fame machine to protect her. Lauren (ex-James) Harries was already a well known financial prodigy when he wrote his book, likewise his 3 American counterparts Arthur Bochner, Timothy Olsen, Jay Liebowitz. Amelia Atwater-Rhodes had the fantastic luck to be discovered by an English teacher who knew a literary agent, on her first visit to that teacher's school before actually starting there. Mariam Akabar was also discovered by a compassionate English teacher in South Africa. Benjamin Lebert was a school "dropout", but I have not yet read how that was legal in Germany, and he has 2 next of kin who are journalists. Sondra Clark and Aislinn O'Loughlin had their writing careers created by parents who were already authors. Most kids don't have these types of circumstantial luck.

I have a 16-year old son with Autism who is in regular classes with modifications. Educating the schools, teachers and public servants (ambulance, fire and police) is a full-time job, but I attempt it every chance I get, as do my other 3 children. Thank you for the site!
