My son who is now 8 years old was diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome at age 4. I just wanted to say that the stories and articles on this web site help to make me feel better as a parent with a cild with Aspergers.. It's just good to know that there are other parents out there who understand........ Thank You

My son is currently diagnosed with inattentive ADHD with anxiety, but shows several Asperger's symptoms; we're due for another (sigh) evaluation to determine correct diagnosis soon. Anyway, he recently underwent oral surgery. The following day, he was fully socially responsive, giving eye contact, speaking without stuttering, moving confidently, and without his usual stereotypical behaviors. I immediately contacted my surgeon, who informed me that this happened regularly with children like my son, and it would "wear off" in a couple of days; because the anesthetic in question is highly addictive, therapeutic uses are not possible. I am seeking other parents with similar experiences with their autistic or ADHD children after surgery; also, I want to track down any information I can get about current research on production of a synthetic deriviate of such anesthetics to eliminate the adictive properties. If you have any information, please contact me!
