Hi there,
My son and I were bitten a year ago. Mine healed
well but his bite got infected and after 2 courses of
anti biotics and almost a year later, he is going to
have it cut out on Friday. Is it true that every
anniversary of the bite, the area becomes infected
again ? It will be 1 year at the end of September,
and I have developed a redness around the area I
was bitten ? We live in Auckland. Thanks Jenny

Hello Helen, late year my husband and I contacted your re the white tail spider. We belong to the Rotary Club of Katoomba and run the Dangerous
Spiders Public Awareness Project. We have produced a booklet on all the dangerous spiders and not so dangerous spiders with basic first aid treatment and commonsense advice to parents and home owners. Recently we have developed a booklet on the White Tail spider and and with a view to raising funds for resarch etc. Last week Rex had an article published in the local paper the blue Mountains Gazette about this project and the response from the public ha been phenominal however, this week there is a letter to the editor paning the project and the fact that White tail spiders can cause some damage. Having spoken with you i wondered if I could send a copy of this article to you for you to comment on as we are a bit nonplussed by the writers sentiments.
Regards Heather Gilroy

Hiya Helen, Really interesting site, and much used and viewed by the looks of things. I only came across it when looking for distant long lost relatives in Melbourne Australia. Will make a point of ordereing the book. But one slight critism, please look at your surname on the website and make up your mind which way you spell Midgley or Midgely? Good luck with all you do. TM
