My maiden name was HAWKEN and I have traced the family back to JAMES HAWKEN, born 1758, my 3xgGrandfather , who lived in Wadebridge. I am currently seeking info on his grandson, JOHN MENHINNICK HAWKEN,born 1828, who went to Australia with his wife Mary (Merifield) but did not return to England in 1859 with her and their son. I have been unable to find any further records of him. Can anyone help?

Wonderful to explore a website such as this. Looking for Mary Warne born St Breock about 1808, (according to census). She married William Stevens and ran a Milliner/Dressmaker business in Bodmin. I have been unable to find much of a 'paper trail' for her.

Good site. I am trying to locate the origin of the name Penalagon spelt several different ways. My gg grandmother was Catherine Penhalagon and she married John Ware 21 May 1827. She was born in Truro abt. 1811, I am trying to find her family, I don't know much about the family she was engaged to her cousin, and left to visit some friends in Battersia and on returning home to Truro she was told he had married, and she went back to battersia never to return to Truro. My granmother Catherine (Herbert) Wingrove said we had spanish in us and it came from the Penhalagon side, and I am trying to track it down. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated. I have traced my ancestors back to St Breock (around 1700s) - Meagers and Ellorys so was interested to see pictures of the area.
