The Reeves was my second ship having picked her up in Bath, Me. after an extensive re-fit in 1970. After 8 weeks in Cuba and a trip through the canal, we headed for Pearl. I made my second WESPAC tour from 1971-72 and left the Navy in Sept. 1972. My heart fell from my chest when I saw the destruction of our beloved Reeves.

Served onboard the Reeves 1990-1993. First Div then struck out to Supply. Just heard from by best buddy Terris Porchea. Just viewed the video of Australian Navy sinking the Reeves in 2001. What a waste to sink her!! All that hard work we did in the shipyard.

I served aboard USS Reeves from '77 - '79 as a BT (BT3 Roberts) in the forward fireroom. One hell of a ship and crew. Does anyone have any info on GM3 R. Gantt who served during the same time period? He was a Gunner's Mate in the forward missle house. He transferred to Long Beach. Contact me at (302)731-2885.
