First and by far best tour as a young
and impressionable ET3/Link Geek
from 84 through the Qing Dao visit in
86. Thanks especially to the two
BM2s that took "Dinky" Chinn and I
under their wings and showed us the
more, uh, interesting aspects of
Manila. (Thanks too for tucking us
back into our top racks up in First Div
berthing.) Glad to see that
Shipmates are still hangin' in there
and doing well. Lots of great
memories...in retrospect, it's almost
a shame that my best ship was my
first...means my whole naval career
was uphill. Oh well, I survived, and
having visited Diego Garcia three
times on Reeves, that's saying
something!
Funny how good commands have
such a lasting impression on
you...still carry the old nickname the
radio-girls gave me since I was the
little white bald thing bouncing all
over the place getting stuff done,
though it' s been shortened over the
years to just 'Q'
Would love to find out who sewed
the foil 45 silhouette into the liner of
the MAC's luggage...made his
departure from the Hong Kong
airport rather exciting. (Outstanding
idea by the way!)
Good luck all of you, God bless, and
would love to hear from anyone on
the WW-24...I think I've paid back
everyone I owed for covering my
beer/ladies drink/bar fine/police
bribe/etc., please advise if you
remember otherwise. Any
whereabouts on GMM2 Mark Wilson,
ET2 Roger Walkup, ET2 Kevin Irla,
ET1 Chuck Horne, ET1 George Kling,
ETC Stanley MacIntosh, or the rest of
the OE Gang would be appreciated.

Hey glad to see there is a Website that pays tribute to such a great ship. I served in Reeves from Nov 1990 till Decomm. I'll tell you it was one of the most interesting and memorable times of my life. I was particularly impressed with the integrity and honesty of the CPO mess under EMCM Edmunds.

Went aboard The Mighty Reeves in September of 1988 while in the Gulf and stayed with her until after the DSRA in Pearl. Still some of my best times in the Navy. I was an HT1 and later a DCC while there. Still over here with Mike Dawson, John Pung and "Mac" McClellan in Yokosuka. Karl Maerz was here on Kitty Hawk as well but may have already went back stateside.

I've been on the ship as RMSN/RM3 74-77 and I've been on the site a few times but seem like it gets slow on the board...It would be nice if some of my fellow shipmates would get back on the board and say hi. She was a great ship and a great crew. Open up your Westpac 75 book and get in touch with some of us. THE ONLY CRUISER IN TOWN LIVES ON!!!

Took REEVES from Pearl Harbor to Yokosuka in 1980. Came back to REEVES in the Arabian Gulf in 1987 just in time for ERNEST WILL. Did two deployments on REEVES to the Arabian Gulf. Have been back to 7th Fleet area several times in the last few years; ran into LCDR Scott Silk, ETCS John Roush, LCDR Jerry Slevin, and I worked in San Diego with LCDR Paul Harvey. The REEVES Ironmen live on.
