It was great to find this website. I will NEVER forget the Reeves or the Ironmen aboard her. THe best ship in town had the best softball team in town and the best crew by far. I served on 5 ships and without a doubt the Reeves was the best. Wild Bill Center and Papa Dave Mckinley were the best Captains an sailor could hope for. Will never forget the bomb of 89. Hope to hear from old friends and shipmates. IRONMEN FOREVER

Hi to all my shipmates that were onboard in 1970 during her recommishing in Bath, Maine. It sure is nice to see some familiar names and establish contact with some old friends. Have a lot of fond memories while stationed onboard and had a great time in Hawii. At least what I can remember of it. Primo beer ya know. Anyone that knows how to contact William (Duffy)Young please let me know. We had some great times in the old house that a lot of rented in Bath. The USS Reeves was a great ship that was manned by a great bunch of guys. Good luck to all.

I served on Reeves in 1984. I caught her at Subic Bay, PI., and rode her for a few weeks up to Sasebo, Japan. I was a CTR at the time. I always remember the look we (CTs)got when we hit a port. Since we were not part of Ships' company, we always got the "Where do you think you're going?" look. I forget who the CO was. Time on the Reeves was a cool experience.

Served 78 - Aug 80 as Sonar Tech. Cross-decked to Worden when Reeves transferred to Japan. Played on the "Reeves Band." Served on four ships - she was definitely the most professional and best ship.

Served from 01/80 to 04/83. Hated to hear she was used as a target. My wife and I always wanted to visit her at least one more time. Is is ironic she was sunk by Aussies. My wife is an Aussie. I met her while serving on Reeves. In fact I asked her to marry me in the A-gang office.
