EN-3 "A" Gang in R-Div 4/71 thru 5/73 Made ship's last 2 west-pac's to Nam, on North Sar in Tonkin Gulf, topside for fly-by...will never forget it. I'll always be grateful for the priviledge of serving on USN's FINEST SHIP. Through heavy seas, in high wind and while in harm's way, Reeves kept us safe and always brought us back. She was our home, our friend! I am also thankful to have served with the finest of crews. Lt Pankow, MMC Mantlow, MMC "Robby" Robinson, BTC Daley, EN2 Mel Joseph, MM1 Smitty, GMM1 Stan Greenway, MMCM JD Ferris, SH2 Don Stone, Tommy Rottman, Mark Wyeth, Wayne Watanabe, Rev Haag, BT2 Towery...to name a few. Remember returning from the 1971 West Pac trip and arriving at the Pearl Harbor outer buoy after 6PM, the ship called for a tug and was told no tug service till 6AM the next morning. Capt William S. Mayer stationed the sea and anchor detail and brought Reeves in himself and parked her pier-side at Bravo-1 with no tug, as easy as if he was piloting a small boat. Sadly he lost his wife upon returning from that trip. I remember Capt Lee Baggett Jr. taking the Shell-Back initiation with the rest of us pollywogs on Nov 16, 1972 when we were on our way to Singapore. To all my Reeves shipmates who read this, I wish you well...you truly were iron men. May our grand old ship rest in peace in Davey Jones' realm, she has earned the rest. When we have a reunion, The Good Lord willing, I hope to see many of you then

Hi shipmates, served on the Reeves from May 65 to Sept 68. Was in OI division as a RD3. Would love to hear from anyone who served in CIC during that time. Am saddened to hear of the old girls fate, she deserved better. "Who'll take the mail thru the pass......."

I served from 2/87 to 2/89 under the command of "Wild Bill center. Gentlemen, it is with great pleasure that I read all your comments about this great ship. Many of us would have never found out what the NAVY was all about had it not been for the mighty Reeves. Great memories abound my mind from this very small period of my life. Thanks to all of you from making this such a great ship. With out all of you it would just have been tons of steel. The mighty Reeves rests in the moth ball fleet in Alameda California but I heard rumors that it was being moved to Pearl Harbor. Nothing but Power Projection great Ironmen.

Have great memories of the Reeves. Was on board from 1966 to late 1967. Was the corpsman on board along with Chief Spencer. All those that can remember, we had the only baby blue sickbay of the fleet. We had a great ship and a great crew. Please e mail me. Thanks for this great site.

I served in Reeves from Nov. 1990 till Decomm. Enjoyed it One of the best times I had. I've seen some Mention of P.A.C He was a real treat. Sure had a way of taking the wind out of the sails of the crew.
