I was just doing some research to see the history of the ship to see who it was named after off the USS California. My family had a history of Naval service in World War II, but not much of family is living to know much.

Couple other comments... I recognize a few shipmates that have signed in. Greetings everyone. After I left Reeves in '74, I did a tour at Fiddlesticks San Diego and retired as an LT in '78. I did another 20 yrs at a civilian career and now completely retired. It's great. What I remember is non-stop bridge watches and crossing the line going to Singapore ('74?), but I was already a shellback from USS Braine (DD-630).
