It's me, Sankarane. I used to be known as ‘Ravi Sankar’ when I grew up. My schoolmates at the good old St. Mary's High School at Karaikal would still probably recognize me by that name. I grew up in this quiet coastal town with several temples and a sandy beach. I was a great admirer of this beach and the sea. As a boy, I would often run up to the beach to stare at the sea and stand in awe and admire its beauty, grandeur, blueness and the yonder horizon. I would often wonder what lay in the still depths of the sea and beyond. A frequent swimmer in the sea, I loved its tireless waves, the air on the beach and its typical smell. I would roll on the beach, brave its waves and jump into the waters. With the sea, I have shared many a secret, the story of my loves, woes, anguish and despair. I graduated from the ‘Anna College’ and left the town. After two years at Pondicherry, where I pursued a Master’s in French Literature, I went to teach in a college in Coimbatore, which I did for many years. I then left for France to earn a ‘Maîtrise’ at the Grenoble University. I am now settled in Canada with my family. I have met some unforgettable people all through my life’s journey thus far. As we all know, communication through the cyber space has become swift and easy. Let us take advantage of today’s technology. Thanks to the Internet, my good old friend, K.P.
