Your excellent website brought back many fond memories. My dad (MSgt "Joe" Joseph Szalai,1919-1994)was stationed at Wethersfield from 1955 to 1958. He and his family (mom, Lois; sister, Judy; and me, Jerry) lived in Felsted (1955-56) and Sible Hedingham (1956-1958). Judy went to Central High School at Bushey Park, Kingston-on-Thames. Had a great time and made a lot of friends (still correspond with a few). Loved the old photos of the base. I have a few B&W photos, two great ones of our 4th and 5th grade class and some of my "girlfriends" Janet Fruth, Carol Kocurek, Cynthia Harvey, Sandy (?), and others. Also my old "buddies" Scott Gilcrest and Julius Jones. What has become of all of you? Thanks again for some great memories and let me know if you'd like me to scan some of these old photos.

I enjoyed your web page, it is excellent! I served at RAF Bovingdon, Herts.from July 1957-July 1960 in a AACS (GCA) unit. I am secretary/treasurer of the Bovingdon Bunch Association and sure would like to put together a web page like yours.

I was stationed at RAF Wethersfield from July 1955 to December 1957. I was in the 20th Air Police Squadron. I was sent to RAF Shepard's Grove in September 1955 with the 77th Fighter-Bomber Squadron when the landing field was being repaired. Really enjoyed my time in Great Britian.

My father was stationed at RAFW in '67 and '68. I'm searching for other dependants that went to school on base,in the 7th and 8th grade, around this time. Dean Sharpe and Chris Jones, Una Mclure, and more! Remember the teen club and the dances. The best time of my life there! Saw Jimi Hendrix invade England. I am now a drummer because of it!I had no idea that most all had a similar experience of joy when looking back, whether in the service or just tagging along. So glad I found this site!Does anyone recall my father?...Major/Lt,Colonel Maurice (Mauri) E. Nordlund,...Please contact me, Randy Nordlund

Was a bean counter in 819 RED HORSE. Best assignment. There from May 81 to 84. Ilove those local girls(at least the ones I remember-he he! I was truly spoiled to be there. Anyone remember those anti-nuclear protests? The place got a regulation security fence in late 83 and never felt quite the same after that. Wethersfield possesses a certain spell that makes me want to see it again and I will someday. Still got a red horse tattoo on my right shoulder to remind me of great days gone by.
