I was stationed at Raf Wethersfield from Sept.1968 to Oct.1971. I was assigned to the paint shop on the northend of the base with the 20th FMS. We painted the aircraft(F100's) and the ground equipment along with allof the external wing tanks. When the base phased down in the spring of 1970 I was the only one of eleven men to remain there and not be reassigned. In sept. of 1970 there was another cut back of personell and I was rotated back to Charleston S.C. to finish out my tour of duty. There were many good times downtown at the pubs in Braintree and at the old Rod nd Gun club on base I remember the 20oz sirloin steak dinners with all the fixens for only $3.00. What a deal. This site brings back many memories but after 33 years its hard to remember exactly what everything looked like. The pictures sure do help. Great stuff.

Was there from 10/56 to 10/60 in 20th Trans Sq. Again from 10/61 to 10/64 in the bomb dump in the MMS unit. Lived in Mushroom farms and later in the village of Wethersfield. Still have friends there, Ron and Jean Kemp. They visit often.

Was stationed at WAFB from Sept 57 to Oct. 1961. Assigned to 20th TAC Hosp. Went on to finish Medical School at the U of Bologna, Italy in 1970 and now practice Internal Medicine in Ct.
