I'm in touch with Jimmy Jones (Chief Clerk, 20thCSG) and Gary Towne (20th Supply Sq.) Would like to hear from Paul Dowling or Donnie Miller. I stay busy selling real estate here. What great times we all had!

I was stationed at RAF Wethersfield from 1966 through 1969. I began in Transient Alert and 1/2 way through I switched to the 55th. I was Crew chief on F-100 # "811". I returned in 1997 for a brief visit. We stopped for a Pint at the Fox pub in Finchingfield before heading to the Base. After 30 years I was amazed at the memories that came flooding back as I turned into the entry road to the base. I was almost 19 again coming back to base after a weekend in London or at the end of a wild taxi ride from Braintree and the Wheatsheaf Pub. As I recall, albeit hazily, there were 97 bends from town to the base. We were not able to get in to the Base because we were there on a Sunday. So we drove around the perimeter and looked through the fence. The Barracks and most to the buildings looked as they did when I left (I think). I got completely nostalgic. It was wonderful! It brought back many memories of Wethersfield, Britain, good times and good friends.
This is a great website. Thanks for the opportunity to remember some of those things again.

I was there from May 1960 to Jan. 1964 marred alady from Coggeshall Essex. I retaired in 1980 and lived in Coggeshall for 13 years. The things that run theu ones mind of the the old days liveing in site 6 pulling CQ and KP, and the good time at the Dog & the airmans club. Braintree has changed so much, the old Bell pub is no longer there, but you can never remove them from your mind. I have been lucky to find some of my old friends and my roomey I would like to hear from any one of the old gang I was first in the PE maintenance Sq. then went to the A flight on the line and the to VA. This is an outstanding page.
