I was stationed at Croughton, but pulled a couple of days TDY at Wethersfield. It has been so long that I've forgotten what it was all about - something about familiarzation with airborne radio operations so we could understand what kind of problems airborne operators faced that we ground guys did not. Was at Croughton from Oct 54 to Oct 57, then on to Torrejon for four years.

My husband was in EOD at RAFW from 1960 to 1963. I would like to hear from others who were stationed with him. I remember the names Don Thieman and Ed Carter. If anyone knows these guys please e- mail me. Thanks

I had many an enjoyable Sunday afternoon playing darts in the Cosolidated(Officers Club) during the mid to late seventies. The darts weren't that great but it was fun and there was always a very warm welcome.
To see how the villages of Great Bardfield, Finchingfield and Wethersfield look today, take a trip to my web site http://website.lineone.net/~northessex/ (there is no www. in the address).

Having always been an avid collecter of old books,I was walking round one of my local charity shops in Coventry, & was quite bemused by the following title:
POLLWIGGLE'S PROGRESS WRITTEN BY WILFRED S. BRONSON.
Having bought it, I glanced through it & found an old library card reference ticket in the back. It was stamped - Wethersfield American School, United States Airforce. On the back cover is stamped - U S A F Property. The records on the ticket read as follows:
OCT 1961 -4c John Severa/ 4 MAY 1962- Sammy 30/ no date- f vacura/ May 23 1967- Wayne Crawford/ & last but not least- June 6 1967- Linda Perkins 7-2. It would seem that Linda liked the book so much - she must have kept it!
I thought it rather sad to find such a memorable item in a place like that, but it has certainly ended up in a good home.I wonder if any of the childrens names are familiar to yourselves, I'd be really interested to know that. Regards, Gillian.
