I am still looking for a guide listing RAF/Naval bases that have temporary military quarters that retired servicemen can utilize. Can you stay at MDP Wetherford's quarters? Other bases? Thank you and Merry Christmas!

Sationed at Wetherfield in Sept 1958 then transferred to High Garrett as NCOIC Radio Relay till Sept 1961. Wxfld was all quanset huts during my tour of duty. I noticed that the F100's had a new paint scheme. The old paint was strips around the fuseladge and wings, The Wing Commander Col, Jay Robbins, Later Gen Robbins, 12AF Commanding General had three wide strips, one of each color representing the three squadron, the Vice commander has three narrow strip of each color, Th suadron commander had three wide strips of the color, Etc down the line. The three years that I was there were the best of my military career. After retirement I worked for Philco-Ford as a Field Engineer on the AUDIN System at Brackley for short time(1967) but was never able to to visit Wxfld. Great page, please keep it up.

I was stationed at RAF Wethersfield from September 1965 to April 1969. I recently visited the UK and RAF Wethersfield. As everyone should know by now, the base is closed to US Forces activity. However, today the location is known as MDP Wethersfield. MDP stands for Ministry of Defence Police. I can only assume that it is used for training MOD Police

My first assignment, RAF Wethersfield,go figure a British BASE and no British Forces (at that time), I worked as a Cook in the Mess Hall facilities, 1984-85,had great dormitory arrangements, things that stood out is that Base was very tranquil, peaceful with minimal activities, Great time w/ RED HORSE, going TDY to Germany (Spangdhalem AFB) building a multi million dollar runway in the heavy snowy winter. TDY to Belgium supporting the First U.S group to be based there. and the English girls, I Would like to hear from any of my co-workers and the RED HORSE crew from those days.

Stationed at Wethersfield from April 1964 to June 1967 in the A&E Squadron. Originally was in Flight Sim but cross-trained to Airborne Radio in 1965. Married a Braintree girl named Sandra. We visit England quite often, especially when I need a London "Fix" I saw some of our old F-100 aircraft at the Big Lik in 1980. I couldn't believe they were still flying. Anyone from barracks 1029 drop me a line.
