Im trying to locate "Johnny Rey" from ground power. He was there 60-63. I know somebody out there knows where he is. If anybody has a positive contact, please have them email me. I, along with about 10 other people are trying to find him and renew old times. Thanks.

Stationed at RAFW Jul 59 to Jul 63, Lived on Connaught Gardens in Braintree. Worked in Instrument repair Shop for about a year and transferred to Basops as Airborne radio Operator with Norman Wilmot and Duane Eyman and Gean P. Clapper.Also Alex Harvilla. Lots of good memories of nice people,would like to hear from anyone. CHEERS

I was stationed there with the Comm. Det from 86-92 and was one of the last four people to leave (two years after the gates were "closed"). A great area and laid-back atmosphere.

Stationed at Wethersfield from 62-65 at the Flight Surgeons Office. I was also the trainer for the Base Football Team. Does any person know the where abouts of Bob Ure? He was civilian cook in the Officer's Club. Nice Guy.

Has anyone got a complete set (or know where it could be located)of the Base "WINGMAN" newspaper. I would pay for them to be scanned and put onto CD for easy read and reference. May 2002 will celebrate the 50 years since the base activatation to face the Russian threat to the West. Any celebrations planned. There should be. Braintree, USAFE, and the present base incumbents, the MOD police should get together with an open day to all those who served and in some cases gave their lives when they stayed at RAF Wethersfield. There are still some flying C47s and a Shooting Star in the U.K. flying, and several static F100 Super Sabres and one static Thunderstreak in the U.K. (I think the nearest Thunderjet is in Norway). They could be brought to the party. "SILVER PLANES AND GOLDEN DAYS"!
