hello, Louie -
great to know you enjoyed the Bluprint magazines. i agree with you that as a showcase for the best in Philippine architecture, lifestyle and the arts, Bluprint does shine through! i'm proud to be in their roster of feature writers
although i am loath to call myself a full-fledged writer just yet.
however, i will be on the look-out for opportunities to feature you... i do get to suggest ideas for editorial content, sometimes, when this magazines' ed in chief and i get together to brainstorm. and i have some friends
in the industry where your art would do well to belong to as well...
besides i am so sure that it won't be long before you will get the recognition you deserve. as my Mom used to say: talent will out. no matter what.
see how you have gravitated towards what you are doing now. its a passion thats been inside you all along. and passions do not burn away and die, they are fed by time and experience and desire ... and if you rethink about all the years behind you, you'd realize that all along, you were on a journey all along, towards the reality that you have now: louie caraos, artist.
its not like you just stumbled upon this by accident, did you? or if it did ... then i call it serendipity, and i believe that serendipity is yet another face of destiny.
i really like your paintings, especially the flower ones. even as pictures in your website, your subjects jump out of this virtual canvas .... your colors vibrant, the textures reaching out, inviting touch....
twice i have sat in front of a favorite monet in the musee d'orsay because that landscape invited me inside itself,
wrapping its soul around me, powerfully. your flowers do the same to me, and i think perhaps it is because your technique, that artists' hand, is exceptional.
the only thing i want to wish for you now (and this is an honest, personal suggestion which i hope you don't take negatively) - is that i wish you can start painting from inside your soul. get away from painting with the mind and the awareness of technique, because you are there, you have technique and expertise enough, and you have every reason to be confident about this part of your "work." i think you have steeped yourself enough in the works of your "mentors" and now it is time to let go.... to get out of mind and conscious thought, and into a deeper place where the heart and soul lives.
i look forward so much to seeing what this next journey will bring to you.
my sincerest congratulations, dear friend.
GIGI

Very nice oil paintings. Maybe when you instruct the class, you could bring one or two for us to see in real life. See you soon.
