Dear Ms. Kaye, you are truly one the great stars of
the Broadway stage and I have been able to enjoy
many of your performances over the years. You've
inspired me as a singer and an actor, which has
taken me to some wonderful places in my career,
including writing a new Broadway rock musical that
is now in development. But it's in another role that
I write to you today - I am now hosting an
internet-based radio talk show where we not only
interview Broadway stars, but also have an active
chatroom during the show and take calls from the
listeners so that the audience can ask their
questions as well. It's what I'm calling my "love
letter" to Broadway and my way of connecting the
stars with the audience in a talk show format. It's
my dream with this show to open up all kinds of
new audiences to the Broadway and theatrical
community. I've appeared on a number of shows,
including the past two seasons on Star Trek
Enterprise and as an actor with a musical theater
background, I believe I can bring a unique
perspective as the talk show host and create a more
intimate setting for the interview, which would be
done by phone. It would be my absolute HONOR to
have you as a guest on my show. We would give
you a private phone number to call into the show so
that your privacy is completely protected and then
we would show our thanks for appearing on the
show by giving you an MP3 of the show for you to
do with as you please, which would include using it
on your website if you would so choose. Like I said,
this is my love letter to Broadway, so we're not
going for the tough questions on the show.
Instead, we want to honor you and your amazing
career and boundless talents and let you share the
stories that YOU would like to share about the
incredible roles that you have played. I was in high
school when I saw you play Lilly Garland for the first
time and ever since then, you have continued to be
one of my absolute favorite performers and HUGE
inspiration to me!
I do hope you'll consider being on the show and if
you would like to be sent a copy of a recent show,
we would be more than happy to get that to you.
The show is fairly new, and although the first hour
of the show is ALWAYS about Broadway, the second
hour of the show has expanded to other aspects of
the entertainment industry so that I can incorporate
some of the incredible people I've worked with in
television, movies and music here in Los Angeles,
including a recent interview with Michael Westmore,
the Academy Award winning makeup designer from
every Star Trek series and film for the past 18
years, the Rocky films, Mask, etc. The show has
also featured soap opera stars as well that I have
worked with here in Los Angeles. So the shows I'd
be sending to you would be including those
interviews. But the goal and dream is to be
primarily interviewing Broadway stars such as
yourself. And to have you on my show would be
one of the greatest honors I could imagine (well,
other than singing with you in a musical or concert
some day!!).
Please do not hesitate to contact me or to have your
publicist contact me if you'd prefer.
All my best.

I saw you for the first time this past week (5/11/05) in NYC with Bruce Adlar. Fantastic performance - what personality and energy you have. I was first introduced to your talents via the audio series for Sue Grafton. Your talent in doing those characters and making them all sound different is phenominal. Then to see this side of you on stage - Lady - you are fantastic. Thank you for making my life at 65 more enjoyable in listening to you and now, watching you on stage.

I have been doing research on Reno Sweeney's and I found you had performed there in the mid 70's. I found it was the "in" place to have been before the doors were closed. Unfortunately this period is prior to the computer age, and there is not a lot of information available. I have even tried the Library of Performing arts at Lincoln Center and have been unsuccessful. On closing night of Reno Sweeney's a lithograph was available to the public, only 1,000 numbered and signed copies were available. The lithograph was done by a known artist named Dennis Abbe, he was commissioned by Reno Sweeney's for the full design, unfortunately he passed on in 1995 and the only information I could find on him is at: www.modernsculpture.com/artdecoglass.htm
To make a long story short, I have two lithographs available for sale in wonderful condition. My Aunt, a true New Yorker had purchased them on closing night and wants to make them available to the performers who have fond memories of that time era before they go up for auction to the general public. It would be an honor to receive any input from you on your memories there, and if interested give you an opportunity to acquire some nostalgia from your past.
Thank you for your time,
Sincerely,
Deborah Heede

Well, I just realized I put my comments in your guestbook for all to see, so there's no remaining anonymous! Eeek! However, I would tell Matthew the same thing if he asked me. At any rate, I hope to see all of you again some time. - Carol
