We are the proud owners of our second border terrier, Tyneside's Rookie of the Year. The wonderful lady who breeds these beautiful dogs is Jane Worstell, Tyneside Kennels, Belton, Missouri. We purchased our first BT in 1989 and named her Cricket after the English sport cricket. Her father was Rugby, the first BT Jane brought from England. Cricket lived for 12-1/2 wonderful years but eventually developed severe pancreatitis and passed away on March 1, 2002. When we called Jane to let her know, she told us that Rugby was still with her. Although mostly blind and deaf, you wouldn't know it to watch him running playing. Jane also told us she had puppies . . . whose grandfather was Rugby. Wanting to stay with that wonderful bloodline was irresistable -- we had to have one of those puppies. Plus it made us feel like Cricket was still alive in this new puppy. My husband likes to name our dogs with sports names and we finally agreed on Rookie. Jane chose the rest of his name. Rookie is a lot different than Cricket. He is extremely affectionate and loves to play. He loves nothing more than having a very loud squeaky toy and making as much racket as he can! He also loves to run and jump often times looking like an antelope! In our opinion, there is no better breed than a Border Terrier.
