My father met Captian James O Ladd in Summerville, S.C. in 1930. My grandmother was there with family due to her being ill. Captian Ladd gave a coin to my aunt who gave it to my dad who gave it to me. Capt. Ladd asked to be called Captian. He would take my dad to see the train pass through town at 12:00 each day. He walked nearest the buildings so he could hold my dad's hand with his. He had no right arm. He wore a confederate Jacket. My dad recalls it to be grey. If anyone knows more about Capt.
