My Grandfather was Douglas Armstrong. For twenty years my family thought we were from the Douglas Clan. After researching, my great aunt Margie said we were actually related to the Farquharson clan. She convinced me by showing me a family tree. I wear the clan badge tatooed on my back along with a cross and trinity braid. I work in a Native American Environment and ancestry is very important. Does anyone know how I can trace an exact lineage? Thanks Darla P.S. One day I'll make it to Scotland, I pray.

I am some how releated to Farquharsons but I don't know how I think it is because my family has Hardings in it which could of come from Hardy.

A wonderful history of the Farquharson name which is helping me find the "fine" family from which we are descended. My GGGrandfather was William Farquharson Ross. He came to Australia in the 1860-70's as a missionary with his young family. His Daughter, my GGrandmother returned to Ballater and her family home Ballater House in 1915 for a visit. William married Catharine Robertson in 1856 and his father was James Ross and mother Jean Riddell. Can anyone tell me more? I believe the name William Farquharson came from his grandfather, therefore, it must have been his mother who was a Farquharson.

My great-great grandfather,Donald Farquharson was born in Braemar,Scotland and worked as a Forester at Balmoro Castle. I am the grandson of his daughter Victoria. Donald emigrated to Scotland in the 1800s. He traveled a lot,Africa and a number of other countries and named his daughters after those countries, Afa after Africa. Family lore has it he lived in the small Braemar castel where Queen Victoria left her slip as a present to thank the family for allowing her to stay there while her castle was being repaired. After talking with the Laird, he said he does not recall a Donald living at the castle. Anyway, I have visite Braemar and the Inverness Castle. Write to me.

I am an American living in the UK temporarily. My great grandmother was a Finlayson and it was such a wonderful experience to see Braemar Castle and especially the Cairn of Remembrance. I will never forget it!
