Good website. I trace back to Farquharson of Ravernie, Farquharson of Broughdearg and Farquharson of Craignity/Kinneries. Am author of the book "Farquharson of Ravernie - a history of the Farquharson Family who lived in the Backwater Glen, Lintrathen from 1590's to 1830. With a Full Transcription of and Notes on the Broughdearg Manuscript of circa 1733." Note that the gathering at Aboyne has a strong link to the Farquharson of Ravernie family as John Farquharson of Kirkton of Aboyne was third son of Finlay Farquharson and Katherine Ogilvy who lived in Ravernie from the late 1590's. John left Lintrathen, married Jean Strachan and settled on Deeside where he purchased Kirkton of Aboyne from Master James Reid in 1655. The details are in the book. The Broughdarg MSS is a fund of information on most of the descendants of Finlay Mor down to 1730's. I have made many additions and corrections to the MSS. The book ISBN 1 903179 815 is available from Tay Valley Family History Society who published it in 2003.

We have just begun to seriously research the Farkies. Found some old letters from Capt. Murray Farquharson of Elrick, Scotland, dating from 1833 to 1836, to his son, John, a farmer and surveyor who came to Canada, and established a home and family near Whitby ON. We have located several names in Canada, but have not yet researched in Scotland. We are anxious to visit the area.
