I have looked so long for my greatgrand father. We thought his name was Ellis R. Dixon. He was married to Emily (no last name) Then I found my brothers baby book and it's say's his name was Walter Dixon. Maybe Ellis was a middle name or a nickname. I still have nothing. Anyway I love this site.

My mother was a Dixon. So far, we've gotten as far back as Thomas Dixon who fought in the Civil War. I know he had a son Thomas Jefferson Dixon. From my understanding my set of Dixons came from Ireland.

we have traced my gggf back to 1806 in pitt county, nc.
there was a fire and the records prior to 1806 were destroyed.
we will never know if we are descendents of england, or elsewhere

My gggrandfather was James Dickson who married Nancy Douglas daughter of James Douglas on January 19, 1804 in Rockbridge County, Virginia. Their son, James Harvey Dixon is my ggrandfather. He married Lucinda Stiles
and he left Rockbridge County to come to Union, WV to manage a plantation.

Loved this sight. I am looking for some Dixons in Armagh, Ulster county Ire.sometime around the mid 1800s They were supposed to be "rich landowners" My gggrandfather Stephen Dixon b.1837 in Armage, married a Catholic and was more or less disowned. Stephen and his wife,Mary Hilliard b.1827 in county Claire sailed to America sometime between 1845 and 1848. Their first son Robert was born in Providence RI in 1848. They moved to Kingston NY by 1850 where the family remained for the next generation. I have never been able to find any referance to the "rich landowner"Dixon s So Stephen is my brickwall.

My gggrandfather was John Dixon b.4-8-1828 in Al. d.1-12-1892 in Al. His father was John also. I have his grandfather as Thomas Greene Dickson b.1750 in Va. d.1827 in Hancock Co. Ga. I would like to share info with anyone that has any on this family.
