My parents were the surivors of the Dara ship disaster, but lost their young son. I am trying to find any resources that I can tap into for more info on the survivors, local news paper articles, pictures etc. I would really appreciate response from anyone.

I read you interesting article on MV DARA.I am currently working in Dubai and I was told about this shipwreck by my mother when I was child- as a number of the crew were from my adjoining village (Goa - India).
Do you have any photographs of the crew.
with best regards

map history of london underground...
at the bottom (year 1997) one of the dates
is (typo?)incorrect.
1977 instead of the correct 1997

Clive - I used your Tube map pages extensively when researching and describing some maps I'm selling on Ebay. Also referred to your pages and linked to the site. Thank you for the info - excellent.

I dived at the Dara ship wreck yesterday, 21 Nov 2004. Its now a very popular site for scuba divers and also a huge attraction for amazing marine life.

Just found your site when I was looking for M.V.Dara.
I was the captain of the Search and Rescue Shackleton that was sent from Aden to search for and aid the Dara. The photograph that you are using was taken by one of my crew from the beam position on the aircraft when we arrived on scene.
I dropped a Lindholm rescue gear (contained a dingy, food, water etc) to what appeared to be some surviviors in the water but since no effort was made to reach the gear it had to be assumed that we were too late.
Seems a long time ago now.
