great site . Wondering if you have any idea when the tube station called St Johns Wood Road closed on the Jubilee Line. It looks like it was called the Lords Station on the 1939 tube map then it appears to have closed. I was told it was located where the Jarvis hotel is now located. Any info on the subject would be appreciated. Thanks. Once again a great site !!

I did a search, in the site map, for “thoese” and didn’t find anything so you may have imagined it, or you may have seen something that I subsequently changed in an update. I have been revising a few things just lately but don’t remember seeing that mistake; whatever, thanks for the feedback anyway. Regarding whether Harry was an engineer or not, I think you will find that he was a draughtsman. However, you may be surprised to hear that some people in our country can regard this as an engineer and this is probably why he is referred to as such in the other web site. The term is used very loosely in the UK and can refer to a wide range of disciplines from someone who fixes your car or washing machine to one who designs bridges. As a “Eur Ing” and registered as a professional engineer in the UK myself, I know exactly what you are saying; because of this misuse of the term, the profession is not regarded anything like as highly as it is in Europe.

Hi: Thanks for a very interesting History of London Underground. I am sure i saw one "thoese" instead of "those" there somewhere, but now I do not see it!! Another thing: You say Harold Beck was an "electrical draughtsman". I then went to the Real Underground map, and in the introduction there, Mr. Beck was said to have been an "electrical engineer". Now, these are very different jobs!! Either you connect wires, or you draw how they should go, so the guy connecting them knows what to do. You do not do both jobs, at least not normally? Can anyone say for sure whether Mr. Beck`s education made him en engineer or a draughtsman? Or perhaps both??? Thank you! Regards, Einar Frigland

I love this site! Do you know if there is a stingemore style (pre-Beck) map that has all the up to date stations on it as they are now, and/or including (ghost stations) ones that are no longer in operation. My boyfriend is making one but someone must have done this already surely. Hope you can help, Thank You for your time.
