"They" say that as we become adults we cannot easily make the same kind of close friendships that we made when young. I'm not sure who "they" are, but I think "they" are right. Fifteen years ago when I saw old friends that I hadn't seen in many years it was amazing how quickly that close feeling returned. Instead of 15 years, the gap between us seemed more like 15 days. I wonder if after another 15 years that will still be true. How much do we change? A wise man once wrote that there is nothing new under the sun. As the years go by, we understand that in a personal way. But we don't have to view that in a negative sense. Instead, perhaps we can take some comfort from the things that don't change. I think we can enjoy these old friendships because whatever we found of closeness in others is usually still there. Not always, I grant you, but I believe more often than not. "They" also say that the ability to make new close friendships is more difficult for men. I think "they" are right here also. The reasons probably vary, but I suspect marriage and children become the focus. And as most men can only handle so much commitment at a time (if at all, lol) the male bonding gets shorted. Maybe, that is why the old friendships survive..they are already built-in to our psyche and require no further effort to download....uhmmm...think I've rambled on long enough, lol.
Does this make any sense, or are these just the ramblings of nostalgia?

Ok folks....I know the all powerful reunion organizers (not to be confused with union organizers) probably read these messages...so...what should we wear to the reunion??? Suits and dresses? Jeans and t-shirts?? Culottes (sp?) or bell-bottoms (good luck finding those guys, lol)?? Hawiaan shirts? Jerseys of our favorite teams (go Red Wings!)?? How bout a costume party with a theme? Like...favourite characters from 19th century Russian literature, or your favourite hip-hop singer? Or maybe try to look like we did 30 years ago (guess I'd better start that diet tomorrow)?? But, hey, these are just my ideas and it's probably just one of those acid flashbacks they warned us would come (not really...I think I'd know the difference lol). So lets bury those organizers with wonderful or even useless (like mine) suggestions!
Jim

Great website...hello to all of those wonderful friends I've known since high school...and to those who touched my life so many years ago and then faded away. I look forward to seeing all of you.
