I took over from SSGT Brock and was gun chief when our tent took the direct mortar round Mother's Day 69 at FB Oasis. We lost Mike Schroeder and got Rick Peoples blown up pretty bad. Like most of you I didn't talk much about it until I turned about 50 and then I started looking for old buddies. I finally found Rick alive in Alabama and when I finally spoke with him he didn't really want to even talk with me. That was a pretty big let down for me. I don't know what I expected...maybe hey buddy thanks for saving my life that night, but in reality he was just another bitter old man, but I was looking for that 20 year old that I drank hot beer with and had shaving cream fights with. I guess that kid in all of us might be buried along with Mike.
If anyone has heard from Glen Clendennon, or Phipps please let me know.
