Great site! I live my yonger years in Branchville. My family live there between 1966-1973. I saw that "Big Rock" was mentioned by a fellow Mill Road kid..:) I grew up diving off that rock. My father was the Methodist Minister as well. My two brothers & I just went to Branchville at around Christmas..yes a trip down memory lane..God Bless

Even though I do not live all that far, my trips to brancville are rare.
It was always home, next to Augusta for me.
I am looking for any of the history you could give on the police force that was in effect in the 60's. My Dad, Howard Hawkins was one of the officers and it seems, most people today, dose not realize there ever was a force. Harold Kinney was chief then.
Thank you , and love the site....

Hello,Karen and Joe! Great Web site! You're very talented! For those who don't know us,my husband Jim and I are former residents of Branchville, having lived there from 1959 until 1991. My eldest daughter Colleen and Karen were friends. We still get up there for a short visit once a year, and am glad to see MOST of the town hasn't changed too much.

Grew up in this little town from about 1972-1977, and its affect on my life has made me who I am today. Enjoyed the river that ran through town and small town life in general. I'd love to visit with my kids, now about the age I was when I lived there, and stop by "Big Rock" just up Mill Street where I lived.
How many times did I ride my bike around Hoos and Fletchers lumberyard anyway?

What an impressive undertaking! I am planning a camping trip to Branchville, and I wanted to get more information about the area. I was delighted to find this comprehensive and well-written local history. I am involved in historic preservation in Boston, so I am always interested to see whether and how places are able to make use of their histories. Your site really conveys the value of your town's past in a varied, interesting, and accessible way.
