Hi Ben Thanks for mentioning about the new Watchtower and how it “smashes” the 587 date. I always recommend that people look at all the evidence then make a decision so thanks again. However, as you will see, “smashes” is not the word you should be using. If you google VAT 4956 and watchtower, you will see that this magazine has made quite a stir on the Internet. Once again the WTS has used selective quoting and the services of Rolf Furilli (a JW apologetic) to source the article. For your convenience I have copied and posted a few articles for you to read. There’s a lot of information there but if you take the time to read it all, you will see that VAT 4956 and more importantly other cuneiform tablets back up the 587 date as the date for Jerusalem’s destruction due to their accurate detailing of astronomical data. You have to remember that the scholars at the British museum have no agenda: they do not need to prove the 587 date for any gain to themselves., there just say it like it is.
