I have been associated with JWs for 40+ years. Gilead, CO, convention Chairman etc. I did extensive research on 607 and came to the conclusion that 587 was the correct date. I would like to share some additional research that I think you will find faith strengthening and answer many questions I know you will be left with once the date 1914 is no longer accepted. This is an awesome sight. It was the first Web site I came across in early 2001. I was doing some research for a talk I had and I thought I would be studious and look up some info on 607 BCE. I stumbled on this site and it was just the tip of the iceberg! I've been out since mid 2002. I was fortunate to be able to bring my husband and two children with me. Hi I have read your comments and you are totally correct Jerusalem was not destroyed in 607 but in 586 BUT Jerusalem was given over to Babylon for 70 years in Nebuchadnezzars 1st year 605 according to secular history, 19th year later and the 11th year of Zedekiah the city was destroyed. please read my web page. Hi there, I am currently a Jehovah's Witness, and I agree they have got a lot of their dates wrong. I think that Jesus will come to power in 2033, and Armageddon wil come in 2070. This is a parallel to what happened to Jerusalem, amd a model for today. 607 and 1914 are wrong, I think, but I carry on for now to "keep everyone happy" or otherwise I will have to go AWOL and take another identity elsewhere! Also the Society fail to explain properly the 2300 mornings and evenings, the 1335, 1260, & 1290 days to my satisfaction.
