I too am a Jehovah's Witness and have been one for 22 years. I must confess that the matter of the 607 date has been one of the causes of my now somewhat shakey belief in the Witness teaching. I do not want to be apostate and am concerned as the Society's explanation does not satisfy me.

Why Jehovah’s Witnesses are right for sticking to the Bible’s chronology of 607 BCE for the destruction of Jerusalem. Arguments for 587 BCE are scripturally flawed, causing four Bible prophecies to fail. The year 607 BCE really is the only date that works with the Bible.

This prophecy is the FOUNDATION of the entire organisation. When the truth about this hits rank and file JWs it will be a catastrophy. If the org try and change it their will be an exodus out the door.

Good job with your research.
It is disappointing that the society was not able to offer any proof that 607 BC is a correct date for the destruction of Jerusalem. I guess this means that the 1914 prophecy no longer works. I assume that the JW faith will not survive this revelation of truth. I will give it 20 years before the effects trickle down to the next generation and the JW's are reduced to a very tiny cult.
