I SAILED ON THE SS WALKER IN 67 WITH THE 544TH ENGINEER SUPPORT GROUP ATTACHED TO THE 36TH ENGINNEER BATTALION IN VUNG TAU. WOULD LIKE TO FIND A FRIEND OF MIND WHO'S NAME IS FRANK VONELLA FROM NEW JERSEY. HE SEEMS TO HAVE VANISHED. WE SERVED TOGETHER FROM 66 TO 68 STARTING AT FORT LENARD WOOD, TO FORT IRWIN, ONTO VUNG TAU IN THE ROCK QUARRYS. WOULD LIKE MORE INFROMATION ON THIS SUPPORT GROUP. I served in the 36th Engineers C Company from Dec.1968 to Dec.1969. I was the company armorer. I will never forget the 6 months we spent on the outpost"Camp Charlie"living out by QL4. Glad I found this webb site. Stand proud Vietnam Vets!!

I am the son of Wade 'NORT' Sumerlin. Currently 34. Dad has not talked about his adventures from there much at all. But he said that one of you guys called him a few months back. Talked for a while and sent some pics. Thanks. He really needed that. He has been fine, but not open about Nam at all. He showed me those pics and talked about all of you guys at length. served withe the 36th from dec 68 to aug 70 worked in the motor pool hhc co, and worked on welding the beams for the bridges at Capt. Mooneys S-4 yard I was the buck sgt who ran that crazy welding crew,lol.
