I was with HHC from June 1971 to 1972. I was in the commo section. The 36th stood down the other battalions in the group and I was with the company when it moved to Binh Thuy and became Engineer Region IV. In Bin Thuy, the unit got the base ready to turn over to the ARVNs. But, a mortar attack hit the ammo dump and we had to abandon Binh Thuy and move to Can Tho Airfield, where I spent my final couple of months. In 1970, I was with the 93rd Engineer Battalion at Dong Tam, so the 36th was my second tour in Vietnam.
