36th Engineer Group - Korea Army War Veterans
Looking for Korea Army War Veterans who served in Korea with units affiliated with the 36th Engineer Combat Group. - IX Corps Engineers. Our location was below the Iron Triangle between Chorwan and Kumhwa near a shelled out town of Tae-de-gul. Interested in the whereabouts and status of veterans and would like to contact any veterans to exchange views and recollections. The 36th Engineer Group was located alongside Route 22 east of MSR-3 near Tae-de-gul. There was also a small stream nearby also not far from 44th MASH and a water reservoir. Our working quarters were bunkers in a small hill. Affiliated Units – The 11th, 74th, 194th, 378th Engineer Battalions – 76th Dump Truck Co. – 86th Engineer Searchlight Co. – 323rd Engineer Co Light – 1437th Engineer Treadway Bridge Co The purpose of this web site is to re-connect with old buddies, exchange news and views, revive old stories, renew old acquaintances, and indulge in a bit of nostalgia. This web page is focused on all veterans who had some connection with the 36th Engineer Group while in Korea

Fred, I read your post. I remember a tall skinny guy that liked to dive into open tunnels. I shared a tent with Dennis Wild while we were on the land clearing team. I left in March of 70, just before the Cpt. that was with MACV got killed. Send me a message using my e-mail link, I can't seem to respond to your link that is on the site.

Steve I was with land clearing when they went to Sadec,and stayed till they disbanded the unit.I been trying to remember you,but I cant.There were so many that came and went,plus my memory aint to good.Do you remember Dennis Wild,Tex,Doug Moore,David Moore ? David was a little short red headed guy that worked on the dozers,every body called him RED.I operated plow #10 named it Kentucky Rebel.I will get my photo albums out,maybe then I will remember you.Great to hear from some of the old gang.Glad to know you made it home.I been trying to reach DOC (Don Jordan), but dont know where he is now.Welcome home,be waiting to hear from you. Just surfing by and read the post by Fred Wells. I was in Vinh Long from 7/69 to 4/70 in D Company 36th Engineer's Operated a wheeled scraper and also drove 10 ton tractor trailer. I went out with the land clearing team to Sadec and Chau Duc. Operated a D-7 with a rome plow. Would like to hear from some of the guys.

I served as a SP5 with HHC, 36th Engr Bn June 1966 thru 30 Aug 1968. Started in Ft Irwin, CA and shipped to Vung Tau aboard the USS Pope. I was a Personnel Clerk with the Personnel Section until Jan 1968, when I transferred to be the Battalion Security and Intelligence Sergeant in S2, working with CPT Blue, MAJ Danielson, and MSG Billy Gilbert.

Checking back in to see if any old friends have signed in.Surly some of the old gang is still out there.I served with the 36th in Vung TAU in68 then in69 & 70 was in Vinh LONG on rock pier and land clearing left NAM in Oct. of 70. Great site, however, I have a question...I was in the 36th Engr Bn (Combat) in UiJongBu, Korea, 1969, the 526th Engr Co (PB) Is this the same Bn that was in Vietnam? Curious...
